Vehicle tracking is a highly effective security measure. Knowing where vehicles and drivers are, particularly if they are carrying costly cargo, is a way of ensuring the drivers safety and that of the goods they are carrying. It enables companies to trace goods, their containers, and deliveries from the point of origin right up to their destination.
In most cases, companies are not able to measure Key Performance Indicators accurately before implementing a tracking system. Once implemented, these GPS systems utilize satellites to monitor vehicles or cargo containers, allowing them to ensure there are no unplanned stops and that a pre planned route is followed.
Automatic notification of irregular vehicle activity such as speeding or using vehicles inappropriately out of hours, allows companies to keep a close eye on their cargo. Alerts can be set to monitor any vehicle activity, from cargo temperature to doors being open or closed. Companies can even set their alarms to trigger when a vehicle enters or leaves a designated area. They can be delivered via screen pop-up, email or SMS to any chosen number of recipients.
Through monitoring these close movements, companies are able to resolve disputes, provide proof of service or reconcile timesheets. For example with parcel deliveries, if there was a discrepancy over a scheduled delivery time, vehicle tracking becomes very useful for revealing the exact time the delivery was conducted. Vehicle tracking can produce reports focussing on this history, journeys, locations, speeding of vehicles, working hours and more.
Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite systems use satellites that orbit the earth at the same speed of the earth’s rotation, to enable them to continuously monitor particular areas of choice. These chosen areas can cover as much ground as the entire country of Australia, however still has the capability of focussing on single vehicles.
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) systems on the other hand, are networks of multiple satellites circulating the globe and monitoring activity all over the world. Companies are only able to consider using these satellite systems for vehicle tracking when the transmitter located on the vehicle or cargo has a direct line of sight to the satellite. They are totally impractical when operating on double-stacked railcars, in the holds of vessels, and in the stacks at container yards.
There are many ways a company will see positive turnaround from installing these measures, such as increasing revenue due to improved productivity and vehicle operation. It also helps improve customer service as companies can provide customers with an accurate status of their deliveries or services, improving customer satisfaction.
Vehicle tracking also helps to uncovering hidden liabilities such as fraudulent overtime claims and bad driver behaviour and help reduce a company’s carbon footprint by eliminating excessive fuel usage through unnecessary journey planning.
With vehicle tracking, organisations are able to increase vehicle security by constantly knowing where their transportation is, ensuring the full safety of their drivers and the goods that they carry.

This holiday season brings with it plenty of new things. One of the things we picked up in the last holiday season was a brand new nintendo wii. At the time we took several hours debating over what kind of new gift we might want to get for our family. Well I’ve always been a big fan of the xbox and was thinking about the xbox 360 but the problem is that my sister insisted on the nintendo wii.
However, I spent some time researching and trying to figure out what the best video game console would be for our family and now I think that a nintendo wii might in fact be a very good choice. You see, the wii has many benefits that people don’t know about. For one thing, it is a much more family friendly system which not only means it can be played by all ages but the games realeased by Nintendo for the wii are geared towards the entire family.
As I said before Nintendo created the wii to appeal to the entire family. So one of the amazing strengths of the system is that it takes away the advantage most gamers already have. Because of the unique design of the wiimotes, people who have never played before need a learning curve to adapt to how it is used. By contrast, both the playstation console and the xbox 360 have about the same controller design. Because it is less intuitive it takes more time to get used to especially for younger children. It also means that all of us veteran games have an enormous advantage when it comes to gaming on these consoles.
For anyone who has never used a wii, the wiimotes are specifically designed to allow you to move the controller as you would move in real life. That is, when you are playing tennis you treat it as a tennis racket. When you are playing baseball you use it as a bat and so on.
This makes for a very fun way for young children to learn the basics of gaming on the wii since they intuitively already know how to swing a bat or use a tennis racket. Again, this is just another reason you should consider going the Nintendo route if you are interested in getting a video game console this year. The fact that the system is very heavily biased towards young children will make it a hit among the entire family.
EJ is looking forward to this holiday season where he will be buying his daughter a nintendo wii for her kids! Finding a nintendo wii for sale is not easy this time of year!

It is doubtless that the MP3 player has revolutionised the way we listen to music, allowing access to hundreds of tracks, without the need to carry around an expansive record collection. The digital music player has clearly replaced the CD player as a more convenient and usable form of portable entertainment. Today the MP3 player is the ideal travel companion, whether on the train, bus or even on foot. But what is likely to happen in the MP3 player market in the coming years? Here are some of the most likely trends.
Some market experts believe that the MP3 player market will grow, in fact a recent report stated that sales of players are likely to continue for at least another two years. Additionally it is likely in coming years that the advancements in flash memory will mean that the capacity and robustness of players will improve in the future.
Another expected development is that the more fiddly and difficult to operate devices will be phased out in favour of simplistic user interfaces and a greater range of features. For instance, the modern MP3 player is not purely a means of listening to music, today devices hold photographs, videos and in some cases text documents. In addition, they are likely to become smaller in the future although understandably there is a limit to how small these devices can become.
One of the largest challenges to manufacturers of MP3 players is that mobile phone companies now often incorporate playing software into phones. The result will be devices that will have WiFi connectivity to allow the user easy access to online music.
To remain popular MP3 players will have to keep an edge over devices such as portable PCs and games consoles as well as mobile phones. This means that designers will have to incorporate larger screens and better sound quality if they are to retain this competitive edge. It may even become the case that devices incorporate the ability to record digital images, audio files and videos to improve their worth to the consumer.
One factor however that is sure to keep the MP3 player popular is that in the coming years the devices will become considerably cheaper. While the first players were extremely costly, today they are far more affordable. This is the case with many technologies but if a portable media device can offer a range of features that are similar to portable PCs and mobile phones for a fraction of the price they will remain popular with consumers.
Innovative design is also likely to play an important role in the longevity of the portable media device. This has started already with some companies; one such device is a wristband MP3 that contains an OLED screen to save power and also has Bluetooth headphones to do away with those pesky wires. For something the size of a watch it boasts a lot of features and could prove popular. A more fun form of device is the yoyo player, although only still a concept, it is a clever idea that allows the user to recharge the device by simply throwing it like a yoyo. Whether a design like this will ever go into production is debatable although it acts as an example of where manufacturers could take the market should they wish.
Hopefully this article has highlighted some of the challenges that face the MP3 player industry. It has also attempted to recognise how through effective development and innovative thought it will be possible for companies to manufacture popular and highly saleable devices. Whatever the conjecture surrounding the portable media player, it still has some years to run before it is assigned to the spent pile of devices.
Technology expert Thomas Pretty studies some of the conjecture surrounding future trends and developments in the MP3 player industry.

If you come to my house, there’s a good chance I’ll be in my office most all of the time. In fact, most of the time I feel like I literally live IN this office. Alright so my office is at home so I kind of do live in it, but with all the time I spend here, I cannot just sit here and not have cool stuff surrounding me. I’m a kid at heart, I need stuff that’s going to distract me from the articles I do, I need stuff that will lure me away from work, and these items listed below are some of the few gadgets I have in my office! All of these items are for in office use, so if you work in an office or work at home, these are all gadgets you just might enjoy as well. Onward!
Night Owl Keyword And Mouse - I can’t even tell you how many times I go to bed and realize I forgot to finish some virtual paper work on my computer, and this is when my favorite keyboard comes to life. I don’t even have to turn a light on nor do I have to squint to see the board by the light of the computer screen! This little guy is an illuminated keyboard and mouse which is an ergonomic, split-key variety. I like the ergonomic option because it’s easy on my hands, shoulders, and wrists! It’s also splash proof, so if you’re up late drinking coffee trying to meet or beat that deadline, you won’t need to worry about the odd spillage. There is also a purple one but, I prefer the clear one!
TVR Street Mouse - This cool item is a realistic licensed replica of TVR’s much-acclaimed super car. It’s cool curvy styling and sculpted body has been cleverly adapted to feel as good as it looks. The Tuscan sports alloy style wheels, tinted windows and working blue LED headlights ideal for those dimly lit evenings on the Internet. Available in metallic cherry red or electroplated chrome, The TVR Tuscan is a high quality, ergonomically designed 800 dpi mouse with two buttons, and a scroll wheel to ensure easy navigation around your PC. They had a pink “bug” type one as well, but I like the TVR a lot better, it fits the sporty girl in me better!
Verballs; Mister V - This thing looks kind of wacky like a mister potato head gone evil! But it is pretty useful for me. So much more than just a desktop knick-knack, Verballs are the ultimate customizable desktop call alarm. These crazy critters can be programmed to talk while you type and chat to your friends for free over the Skype network. If your friends don’t use skype then don’t worry, these adaptable demons will also work with other voice over Internet protocol systems such as Yahoo, MSN or AOL. Verballs are giant fluffy creatures that act as call alarms when people call you over the Skype networks. He also plays MP3s, has a hand free mic, its USB powered and it has jacks for a microphone and or headphones for a more private setting for calling.
Of course I have a whole bunch of other oddities in my office, but these are the newest ones I have gotten, and I really like them! Ya know sometimes it’s good to have things in your office that aren’t all stuffy and proper because sometimes I just want to have a little fun and not have to think about being couped up in this office all day. Hey, if I can’t have fun whilst leaving work I may as well have as much fun as I possibly can in my home office!

Cell phones are on every populated continent in the world. They can provide an incredible benefit to users as they enable a person to be in constant contact with the world around them. As cell phones have evolved and grown over the past decade they have become more and more feature rich, with camera phones, kids phones, and mp3 phones making serious inroads into the market. Kids phones, especially GPS kids phones, are particularly interesting development.
If you have not heard of them before, kids phones are special type of cellular phone that has been specifically built for the needs of parent and child in our current hectic and fast-paced culture. Children have schedules that are comparable to full-time jobs, what with band, sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities. Parents are similarly strained by their schedule, needing to find time to earn money, prepare food, exercise, and relax.
This fast-paced lifestyle led directly to the creation of GPS kids phones by cell phone companies seeking to provide a solution to this type of family.
A kids GPS phone has all the regular features of a kids cell phone. It probably won’t have the traditional number pad that you see on most phones, but will instead have a speed dial pad. This helps parents with two major issues. The first is getting your child to remember the number they are supposed to call. While most kids are great at memorization, they also tend to forget things under pressure. It is much easier to remember that “I get to talk to Daddy by pressing number one” than it is to remember Dad’s seven digit work number.
The other thing that the speed dial helps with is cutting down on misuse of the phone. They won’t be able to surf the internet with this phone, or text message their friends, or even take pictures. This kids GPS tracking device is designed for one thing and one thing only - to foster proper communication between parent and child.
There are a lot of GPS tracking devices out there that help parents know where their child is located in the world, but very few of them allow the ease of communication and the ability to know where their child is like a kids GPS phone. These devices seem to be the perfect blend between communication technology and GPS technology.
They are small, light weight, easy for a child to keep track of, and very reliable. It is very rare that a child will ever find themselves out of both cell tower and GPS satellite reach, so you know that no matter what circumstance you find your family in you will always be able to either know their location or contact them.
There is one word of caution when it comes to kids GPS phones - once discovered, cell phones are often the first thing to be disposed of in cases of child abduction. If this is the main reason that you are try getting your child a GPS tracking device then you might want to consider some of the alternatives to GPS phones available on the market. There are plenty of more subtle GPS device that still help you stay in contact with your child, but these do have drawbacks.
in the end, kids GPS phones are great for fostering communication between parents and children while at the same time creating a safe environment for kids. Any parent who feels like their family would benefit from this GPS tracking alternative would do well to do some research on the topic to find out if this is the best fit for their family’s needs. If a kids GPS phone is the solution there is plenty out there to choose from.
Finding the right kids GPS phone is as easy as a click of the mouse these days. Simply head on over to GPS for Today, a website about GPS tracking for kids, teens, and parents.
Are you new to LCD projectors? There are a few things to consider, when buying a LCD projector. As you read this article, you will discover the kind of things to look at, when buying LCD projectors. By time you complete this article, you will have the information you need to be able to buy a projector.
Here are some points that are essential to look into, when looking to buy a LCD projector:
* Choosing A Projector
* Inputs
* Do You Get A Remote?
* Picture Adjustment
* Choosing A Projector
Though this article focuses on buying a LCD HDTV projector for your home, we will also look at the other uses for a projector, as you could use your projector for a number of different uses.
For example, if you want a more portable LCD projector, which you can carry around with you - for meeting, presentations etc, then a Ultralights type of projector is perhaps more beneficial.
If you are looking for a conference room type of projector, then LCD projectors which are slightly heavier than Ultralight projectors may work fine. That way, you can keep them semi-permanent, and if need arises, you can easily move them around.
For home cinema, you can go for a much heavier unit. This is especially so, when you want a permanent place for your LCD projector. However, if you plan to move the projector, then you will want to look for a more light weight projector.
* Inputs
LCD projectors are much different than old style overhead projectors. With today’s projectors, you can connect many of your electrical products to it. For example, you can connect your laptop, mouse, sound system, and many more!
This makes looking at the inputs and outputs, an important consideration. The question you will want to ask, is whether you can connect all your needed equipment onto the LCD HDTV projector?
* Do You Get A Remote?
It is easy to forget this important point. Like most electrical products, we want a remote for ease. At home, you may want to be able to control the projector while sitting on the couch.
* Picture Adjustment
When buying a LCD HDTV projector, you will want to also take a look at the picture adjustment options. We all have preferences, and more better controls for picture adjustment allow this.
You will also want to consider resolution of the LCD projector. With HDTV projectors, you will find 480p, 576p, 720p, and even 1080p has started appearing. However, realize that DVD can only play back at 480p, so the higher HDTV projector resolutions may not prove more beneficial.

Ten or fifteen years ago, a cell phone looked like a thick walkie-talkie with an antenna as thick as your little finger. You’d see them on the ears of glamorous actors pacing down the streets of New York, in movies depicting corporate big city life. It took a few years for them to make their way into the hands of almost every adult; and then, almost overnight, young children had them too!
Many people are opting out of home phones altogether, claiming they have become obsolete with the advent of the cell phone. While the modern technology is unquestionably convenient, it does have some drawbacks you may not notice at first glance. And the trusty home phone may not be as antiquated as you think.
In defense of the home phone: Internet service, security system monitoring, and fax machines all use home telephone lines. True, these services can be acquired through wireless means as well, but usually at a greater cost to you. And of course, there is something to be said for the degree of permanence you get from a land line.
People switch cell phone numbers so often that it can be difficult for business, friends, and even family to keep track of them. Are the days when kids only have to learn one address and one phone number for themselves gone forever?
That said, I am the last one who’d admit to being anti-cell phone. It is my constant companion, as important as my wallet, keys, and chapstick when I’m walking out the door. Cell phones are obviously convenient because you can take them anywhere. Most have built-in caller identification, text messaging, and call waiting.
Probably the greatest thing about it is that you can be reached anywhere, anytime.
But the greatest con? You can be reached anywhere, anytime.
Sometimes it’s nice to have time for peace and quiet, where you can’t be interrupted. Having something glued to your ear all day long has several drawbacks. Many people have grown so dependent upon their cell phones that they feel naked if they leave them at home or the batteries run out.
Also, having to constantly remember to charge it, as well as the incessant monitoring of minutes and text message use, can be a pain. And don’t forget that as the technology improves, so will the number of advertisements popping up on your cell phone screen.
Some people have a land line that they use for neighbors or business, and a cell phone they use for friends and family only. It’s nice to have a cell phone number separate from the one you write on credit card applications and give out to businesses, hopefully reducing the number of solicitation calls you get on it.
These days, it can seem almost impossible to live without a cell phone, and insane to criticize them. But make sure to consider all the reasons for your home phone before you pull the plug–literally.

How often have you found yourself on the move, for work or pleasure, and need a bit of a boost? I’m not talking about necking a pro-plus or sinking a nice cold beer, although hat would be pleasurable! No, I’m talking about a power boost for your electrical goods. There are so many things we rely on that need to be powered up to operate, from MP3 players to laptops to phones, hair straighteners, cameras, gameboys, ad infinitum. Usually a bit of a charge at home can see these techy beasts operating until we get back to our homely hub of power to plug it all back in again; but sometimes us kids of today like to stay out a while.
Whether it is to trek across the Andes, hitchhike through Europe or to go and dance at a music festival for a couple of days, there is no need to go gadgetless while we are at it. Investing in a portable charger can make all the difference between getting a good shot on the digital camera and being able to take a career changing phone call to missing a shot worthy of Nat Geo and joining the dole cue. Harsh and extreme maybe, but a point never the less. Here we take a look at three products that could keep you teched up on your travels whether it’s on the 8.15 to London Victoria or a tuk tuk to Timbuktu.
The Solio Magnesium Edition rechargeable power pack is a dual fuel portable battery. It can be charged via mains adaptor whenever you are near one, or by solar power if you aren’t. This also make sit an interesting option for eco bods out there who do not want to stamp their carbon footprint all over the planet. Although the Solio takes a while to charge due to it’s Li-ion cell, it will happily keep mobile phones, MP3 players and Blackberry’s charged from a full battery over a number of days. The range of connectors that come with the device cover all types of connection with the exception of mini usb, a problem we are sure Solio will rectify.
Next up is the Phillips SCE7640 Power2Go rechargeable power pack is charged by mains power, but it’s large storage capacity means that it is suitable for taking away and keeping your tech topped up. The range of connectors charge PDA’s notebooks, laptops, music players etc. but it is recommended that you check the Power2Go website to ensure the right adaptor cable is available for the devices you want to charge.
Finally let’s take a look at the UniRoss USB charger. Although, not strictly a portable rechargeable power pack, it is a portable battery charger, and mightily useful addition to one of the above for any devices that require AA or AAA battery power, for example beard trimmers, lady shaves, and even ‘old school’ CD players and MP3 players. It works by plugging into a USB port on a computer to recharge the batteries 2 batteries at a time. This could be used while using a laptop that is being charged by one of the major portable power packs, or whilst using an internet cafe computer on your travels. However, the charging times are incredibly long, requiring being hooked up for at least 3 hours.
Our advice is that if you are going on a hike that will be taking you well off the beaten path, go for the solar powered Solio. You can give it a good charge when you stumble across a power supply, or else keep your juice topped up in the desert if not. The Power2Go is preferred choice if you need more hefty charging capabilities and will be near a mains power every few days. As for the battery charger; best invest in a gadget that doesn’t need AA’s!

Cell Phones have become greatly popular in the previous decade. It was not long ago that seeing someone with a cell phone was a strange sight. Cell phones in those days were not all that flashy and small but they were bulky and boring in general. Cell phones were only used for making calls. Most of the cell phones did not even have the option of text messaging. But all that changed in the previous decade and cell phones today have become a status symbol. A life without ones cell phone does not seem to be normal, like something is missing.
Due to the rapid increase in their popularity almost everyone today has a cell phone. In some places it is very normal for a person to talk in public on his cell phone while in other areas the same may be considered rude. Therefore certain cell phone etiquettes must be implemented and these etiquettes are different for different areas and cultures.
For Example, in America, like other things, almost anything goes. People can be seen talking on cell phones in supermarkets, in buses and while waiting for a bus on the bus stop, while driving and even in school. Due to this reason many states have started passing laws that makes it illegal for a person to talk on his cell phone while driving. Similarly many institutions such as colleges and schools do not allow students to bring cell phones with them on to campus. This also prevents students from sending text messages to each other while in class.
On the other hand we have Japan, which is the complete opposite of America in terms of cell phone usage etiquettes. In Japan it is considered rude to talk on your cell phone in public places. It is very rare to see a person talk on his cell phone in public places. If they do talk in public places they do so very quietly, so that no one else gets disturbed. In Japan it is very rare to hear a cell phone ring in public places as they have turned off their ring tones and have enabled silent mode so that their cell phone only vibrates for an incoming call. This is a wonderful habit and should be practiced by all of us around the world.
Different areas and cultures have different cell phone etiquettes and it is important for us to know them. So that we may not be considered rude or disrespectful. If you are someone who travels to different places then you should be aware of these etiquettes. You should also know that talking on your cell phone while driving is illegal in almost all countries of the world. So this practice should be abandoned as it is also extremely unsafe. Instead of this dangerous practice Bluetooth headsets should be used. By using Bluetooth headsets our hands are free to drive and we ca talk while driving without getting in trouble with the law.
