Cable TV has become somewhat of a necessary thing in our homes these days. So if you are going to have it, why not make sure you know what you are getting and why having cable TV in your home is great!
1.Selection
Cable television provides a number of programs that are not available on your average TV without cable. This selection has increased substantially in recent years, especially in the area of premium cable service channels (these include HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax). The average cable television subscriber typically is provided with over thirty additional cable channels not provided on your regular TV without cable.
The wide variety is commonly the main reason consumers decide to upgrade to cable service and are willing to pay the additional monthly fees associated with cable packages. Cinephiles in particular are attracted to premium cable packages that showcase a number of film and movie channels in addition to unedited programs that might be too racy for regular TV.
2.Cost
Cable televisions subscription costs have lowered as more subscribers have taken advantage of cable provider services. Most cable providers typically charge comparable service rates across the board (there is really not that much discrepancy between cable providers and the cost of their services, typically they offer the same cable packages with roughly equivalent prices, so you have to watch out for the occasional deal one cable provider might offer that another may not). Naturally, TV without cable is substantially cheaper than a premium cable service, TV without cable is, frankly, free of charge, while cable providers will charge monthly rates typically ranging between twenty to fifty dollars or more.
3.Availability
Cable is available nationally, with few restrictions due to geographic issues or areas outside the service zone. Though cable does not have the universal access that most satellite TV companies offer (cable is restricted by where its cable travels, after all) most consumers in major cities or suburban areas are almost guaranteed to have access. Access to cable television is typically only a major issue in rural areas. Cable televisions wide availability makes it a large competitor with satellite TV services in the premium television market.
4.Cable packages that include Internet or phone service
Often cable providers will offer cable packages that bundle together cable Internet as well as digital home phone service for a discounted rate much lower than if the subscriber purchased all three from separate sources or providers. Cable packages and bundles are often a reason most consumers decide to purchase cable over a service like satellite TV, satellite TV companies often offer satellite Internet services, but the connection speeds are typically much slower than those offered by cable providers.
So for Internet connoisseurs or those consumers that need to purchase additional phone service, cable is often a good choice for premium television services, again, cost is a large factor in most consumers decisions over whether to purchase cable services or not.
